Pacquiao vs. Cotto

Monday, July 27, 2009
Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2, with 37 come from way of knockout) and Puerto Rican fighter Miguel Cotto (34-1, with 27 come from way of knockout) will meet in Las Vegas in November at a catch-weight of 145 pounds. The Pacquiao vs. Cotto match is scheduled on November 14, 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada and can be watched worldwide by all boxing fanatics live on HBO Pay per View. Both camp of Pacquiao and Cotto agreed to fight on 145 pounds to make this match possible. Pacquiao last fight was last May against Hatton. Manny Pacquiao won via knockout after a powerful punched on Hatton. The punch exploded on Hatton's chin, which for boxers is the sweetest of sweet spots, because the chin is a relay switch to the circuitry of the brain. Hatton was unconscious before he hit the canvas. Miguel Cotto is a very tough boxer and with a speed. He is a defensive-boxer and a counter-puncher. He has also a power to knockout his opponent. Last June 13 at the Madison Square Garden in New York, Cotto defended his title against Clottey when he knockout Clottey in the first round of the match. Cotto won on a split decision. The Pacquiao vs. Cotto match would be another exciting match to watch. This would be a prime time boxer against prime time puncher. Both fighters fully understand their bodies, their training, their skill levels, their range, the positives and negatives of their fight styles. They sit atop everything that makes their particular fight styles possible. Pacquiao with his speed, power and precision punching drew adjectives like "perfect" and "amazing" from the normally skeptical boxing writers' guild. Cotto with his speed, toughness, defense, boxing mind and zeal. What more could they attain to make the fight any better? Pacquiao vs. Cotto 2009.

Benefits of Exercise

Wednesday, July 22, 2009
ExerciseThe benefits of exercise are far-reaching. Clinical and epidemiological studies have demonstrated that regular aerobic exercise reduces the risk of death due to heart disease and stroke, aids in reducing weight, helps prevent diabetes mellitus, strengthens bones, and enhances immune function. The psychological benefits are also broad, and most studies suggest a positive relationship between physical fitness and mental achievement. The relationship between regular aerobic exercise and cardiovascular health and longevity is well established. Regular exercise leads to a reduction in the risk of coronary heart disease, in which fatty deposits (plaque) form in blood vessels supplying the muscular wall of the heart, compromising oxygen delivery to the heart muscle. In addition, with regular exercise the efficiency of the heart during exercise is increased. Many people exercise to lose weight. A calorie is a unit that measures the energy content of foods and the energy expenditure by the body. When the daily calorie intake from food is the same as calories expended from exercise, weight remains the same. The number of calories burned during exercise varies greatly with the type of physical activity, but the key to successful weight reduction is to exercise regularly, without increasing food intake proportionally. For example, walking one hour per day may utilize only 300 calories of energy per day, a small fraction of an individual's daily caloric intake. But over a period of time, if food consumption is simultaneously reduced or remains the same, significant weight loss will result. One sound approach to reducing calories is to eat healthier foods that contain more fiber and less fat, and therefore fewer calories. This type of diet has also been proven healthier for the heart and blood vessels. One area of controversy has been how much exercise is enough to improve general health, reduce the risk of heart disease, and increase longevity. Meaningful studies on this topic are very difficult to perform because they require large populations of subjects and many years of data collection, and because poor health sometimes results in limitations to physical activity. Despite these difficulties, it is clear that regular exercise, along with a generally healthy lifestyle, is beneficial. People who have sedentary lifestyles make up half the population of industrialized societies and this group has the most to gain by exercising. One recent U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) panel suggested that as little as 30 minutes every day of purposeful, moderately strenuous physical activity—for example, rapid walking or lawn mowing is sufficient to lower the risk of heart disease. There is no conclusive evidence to prove that an especially rigorous exercise routine, such as running many miles per day, as opposed to walking or jogging daily, will add years to a person's life.

Rub Me, Please! (The Reflexology)

Sunday, July 19, 2009
The best way to relax is to just do nothing and depend on someone else to pass on the relaxation vibe to you. Reflexology, in alternative medicine, a healing system in which specific points on the feet or hands, known as reflex points, are manipulated to bring about changes in other parts of the body. These reflex points are believed to correspond to every major organ, gland, and area of the body. Reflexology was first introduced to the United States in the early 1900s as Zone Therapy. It is based on the principle of ancient Asian medicine in which a life force circulates throughout the body, connecting one part to another; when this energy is blocked, disease develops. By stimulating reflex points on the feet or hands, reflexology is thought to restore the energy flow and the bodies own natural ability to heal itself. Reflexology is viewed primarily as a general healing therapy that helps the body regain its natural balance, harmony, and health. It stimulates circulation in the blood and lymph systems and is considered especially useful for migraine, sinus trouble, and constipation. During a reflexology session, the therapist uses fingers, thumbs, and palms to stroke or lightly press the reflex points on each foot. Where energy blocks—commonly felt as tiny crystalline deposits—are found, the reflexologist applies deep pressure for seconds or minutes until these deposits are broken down. Reflexology sessions generally last about 50 minutes. The benefits of reflexology are said to include an overall feeling of well-being, released tension, increased energy, and pain relief. Often one or two reflexology sessions are enough to produce results. Persistent conditions may require weekly treatment at first. Reflexologists recommend regular maintenance sessions to strengthen and balance the energy flow. Reflexology is widely practiced in Europe and North America, often by massage therapists. It can also be practiced on oneself training is given at reflexology centers, and various instructional books with maps of the reflex points have been published for the lay person.

World of Starcraft II

Friday, July 17, 2009
Starcraft IIStarcraft stands today as the most compelling fictional world ever created in gaming. And a new version of Starcraft will be released soon, StarCraft II currently under development by Blizzard Entertainment. According to its creators, StarCraft II is designed to be the "ultimate competitive real-time strategy game.” It features the return of the three races from the original game—Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. StarCraft II is also designed to focus more heavily on the multiplayer aspect, when compared to the original StarCraft. The changes include overall improvement in Battle.net, a new competitive "ladder" system for ranked games and new matchmaking mechanics designed to “match-up” players of equal skill levels. In addition, the replay function, which allows players to record and review past games, is being improved. Blizzard has also stated they have made some changes to the games that were suggested by most of the fans. The single-player aspect of StarCraft II has also been altered substantially from the original game. StarCraft II features approximately the same number of units as the original game. Some units from the original game are returning, some featuring new upgrades and abilities. Units in Starcraft II have new abilities, compared to the original, that encourage more complex interaction with the game environment. Among these are the inclusions of units that can traverse varying levels of terrain, or have the ability to teleport short distances. Some Protoss units can be warped in to pylon-powered areas using a new building, the Warp Gate. According to Blizzard Entertainment, predicts the game will be released at the end of 2009, although a specific release date has not yet been given. The Starcraft II release date is subject to change based upon the game meeting the company’s quality standards.

The 2012 Movie

The 2012 Movie
2012 is an upcoming American science fiction disaster film. The movie apparently follows the theory, that the end of the world is going to be on December 21st 2012 and watches, as the characters try to survive until the end. The studio released the first spoof trailer for 2012 movie that showed a tsunami surging over the Himalayas and interlaced a purportedly scientific message suggesting that the world would end in 2012, and that the world's governments were not preparing its population for the event. The trailer ended with a message to viewers to "find out the truth". 2012 movie was originally scheduled to be released on July 10, 2009. The release date was changed to November 13, 2009 to move out of the busy summer schedule into a time frame that the studio considered having more potential for financial success. 2012 movie is another disaster end of the world film starring several blockbusters Hollywood’s stars namely John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Woody Harrelson. This film is distributed by Columbia pictures and visual effects by Sony pictures. Directed by Roland Emmerich who had previously gone through with the films Independence Day (1996) and The Day After Tomorrow (2004).

Marian Rivera as New Darna

Monday, July 13, 2009
Marian Rivera as New DarnaHere comes Marian Rivera in the latest reincarnation of the Mars Ravelo komiks super-heroine, also by GMA which produced the Angel Locsin starrer, which is set to soar starting sometime in August. Darna is a superheroine character created by Filipino comics writer Mars Ravelo in the 1950s. She is an outer space warrior manifesting herself through a girl from earth, named Narda, a village girl. In the beginning of the story, Narda finds a small white stone, a tiny meteorite from outer space (from planet Marte). Narda becomes a mighty warrior whenever she swallows the stone and shouts "Darna!". She defends the earth from evil forces. Darna is a combination of Superman and Wonder Woman because she can fly and among her powers are super strength, super speed, near invulnerable skin, and super vision. She uses her bracelets similar to Wonder Woman’s to deflect bullets. “She’s the most playful Darna,” said Wilma Galvante, GMA’s SVP for Entertainment TV. “Mukha siyang manyika! And it’s very obvious how she thoroughly enjoys the role and that she’s having fun despite the production’s rigorous demands.” The new TV series Darna will be aired soon this year (2009) on GMA Pinoy TV channel. Watch out for it! This will be Marian Rivera’s another blockbuster tv show. As in the case of the top-rating Marimar, not to say Dyesebel, it feels like deja vu: Angel’s big loss is Marian’s big gain. Well, win some, lose some.

District 9

District 9District 9 is an upcoming science fiction movie and directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson. The movie is based on 'Alive in Joburg', a short film previously produced by Neill Blomkamp. The story of District 9 is set in a world in which aliens have landed on earth 28 years ago. Those aliens are like refugees, contained in a huge camp called District 9. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa’s District 9 as the world’s nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare - they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens' awesome weaponry work. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable - he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9. Other casts in the District 9 movie are Jason Cope and Robert Hobbs. It is scheduled for a release on August 14, 2009.

Introducing the New Google Chrome OS

Google Chrome OSGoogle is not only dominates the search engine war and now Google is going to make history again aiming into the browser market with its plans for a new operating system based on Google Chrome. The new operating system of Google, introducing Google Chrome OS. Google Chrome will be an open-source operating system initially geared toward netbooks. Google claims the new operating system, which should ship on netbooks starting in the second half of next year, will be "lightweight" and heavily Web-centric. Google plans to follow the same formula it used with its browser. It will be Speed, simplicity and securities are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. Google stated “We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds, the user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web." Google will also make security a high priority with Chrome. The company notes it will be "going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work." As you might assume, that is a pretty ambitious goal, considering every current operating system sees its fair share of security flaws and patches. Google is really doing something to make the life of the users much easier with their innovations and ideas and that is Google Chrome OS.

The King of Pop Album Hits Billboards Charts

Friday, July 10, 2009
Michael Jackson AlbumsMichael Jackson has three of the five best-selling albums in the U.S. for the second week in a row, in the aftermath of Jackson's death. Number Ones albums sold 339,000 copies and would have held at #1 on The Billboard 200 if catalog albums were eligible to compete on that chart. The Essential Michael Jackson album sold 125,000 copies and would have dropped from #2 to #5. The Billboard excludes catalog albums from the big chart on the theory that new albums need the spotlight the chart provides more than past hits do. Billboard reports that 82% of the Jackson albums sold this week were CDs. Last week, 43% of the Jackson albums sold were CDs. A total of 47 songs that feature Jackson are listed on the Hot Digital Songs chart. Sad to see it takes his death for his albums to be in the top 5. But he will always be #1 to the Millions of people who love him. I pray that people will remember Michael Jackson for the gifts that GOD gave him and remember that he was human just like every one of us.

Tips on how to Pass Computer Hardware Servicing NC-II

Wednesday, July 8, 2009
The Computer Hardware Servicing NC II Qualification consists of competencies that must possess to enable to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in personal computer systems, software, replace parts and get the system back to normal operation. National Certification (NC) is a TESDA program for middle level skills development. NC Level assessment is a process of determining the qualification level and certification level of a person based on competency assessment. It measures the person’s possession and application of knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform work activities to the standard expected in the workplace. Competencies within a specific level of qualification are small units of work that can merit a person/worker a job after completion. Therefore, completion of a certain competency would assure the industry that a person/worker can perform a specific task/work. Anyone who is aspiring have the qualification of Computer Hardware Servicing NC II must acquire Certificate of Competency (COC) in all individual core units of the qualification. The assessment is composed of two parts, the first part is the Observation/Demo which runs for four hours and the second part is the one-on-one interview (Oral/Interview) with the assessor.
To be able to pass the said examination here are some few tips to consider.

Tip 1: During the exam you will state at least 6 Occupational Health Safety (OHS).
Tip 2: The examiners know how to disassemble and assemble the PC.
Tip 3: You must familiar in installing win98 and win2000 in dual boot system.
Tip 4: You must also familiar in creating Straight through and Crossover cable.
Tip 5: You must familiar yourself in Networking (network the computers, share the printer and print, and make a back-up).
Tip 6: This is my last tips, during in the interview just relax and listen to the questions of the assessor. The questions was very easy once you’ve passed the first part of the exam I’m sure you will answer it quite well. Some of the questions are based on the first part so I’m sure you’ll pass the last part of it. Good Luck!

What About 2100?

Sunday, July 5, 2009
One popular anecdote recounts how 100 years ago, just before the start of the 20th century, everything that can be invented has been invented. Similarly, in 1912 the magazine The Independent predicted that discovery and invention was at an end: “The Earth is nearly conquered now.… There are not likely to be any other great chemical or physical discoveries which will much affect the conditions of humanity.” After nearly a century of ever-accelerating and breathtaking change, we know this obituary to have been premature, if not completely absurd. We also know that while predicting the future is easy, predicting the future accurately is close to impossible. As recently as 1982, Omni magazine predicted that by the year 2000 more than 1,000 people would be living and working on the Moon, that Earth-orbiting solar generators would be supplying much of the world's energy needs, and that manned expeditions to Mars would be routine.

Although space futurism once a popular staple of both science fiction and serious forecasts—has been tempered in recent decades, many futurists still see this high frontier as critical to the human future. Here are a few of the concepts, some involving space and some more land-bound, that current futurists are talking about for the 21st century:

Terraforming: In a scenario, Venus—covered in sulfuric acid and poisonous carbon dioxide—would be bombarded by bacteria that would slowly transform the atmosphere and create oxygen. Cooling and “the Big Rain” would follow, and hardy Earthlings could in time colonize the overheated planet. Recently, Mars has become the favorite candidate for terraforming, since it appears to have abundant supplies of ice and possibly even water. In the words of speculative novelist Arthur C. Clarke, the red planet “could be another garden of Eden.”

Space Mining: In modern popular culture, asteroids are usually seen hurtling toward Earth, threatening complete destruction. But many futurists believe that the next century will see us traveling to asteroids to extract metals such as platinum, nickel, and gold. Mine workers and families would live in huge artificial colonies built in space, complete with farms and towns and “natural” landscapes. Some futurists even envision creating these colonies in hollowed-out asteroids—somewhat like the mining towns of the old West, where people lived literally on top of the ore and then abandoned the town when the resources were exhausted.

Harvesting Icebergs: In his book The Next 500 Years, futurist Adrian Berry predicts that massive icebergs will be captured from the Antarctic and towed to California, where they could supply much of the freshwater needs of the city of Los Angeles.

Artificial Intelligence: Experts in robotics and computer technology are constantly expanding the possibilities for creating “intelligent” machines. Robotics expert suggests that it will be possible in the future to transfer a human personality into a robot. Some futurists even speculate that it will be possible to transfer a complete human mind from one body to another, allowing humans to achieve a kind of immortality.

The Surrogates

The Surrogates
For the upcoming sci-fi movie film based on comic book series Surrogates. Directed by Jonathan Mostow and starring Bruce Willis. “In the near future, humans live in isolation and only interact through robotic bodies that serve as surrogates. When several surrogates are murdered, a cop (Bruce Willis) investigates the crimes through his own surrogate. The investigation forces the cop to bring his human form out of isolation and unravel a conspiracy behind the crimes.” This is a world were in people use remote controlled bodies instead of working out their own flesh and blood bodies. So how do you save humanity when the only thing that’s real is you? I think this movie will somewhat have the feel of another sci-fi movie that I recall right now it’s not brand new, but I welcome another sci-fi movie, even more if it is starring Bruce Willis in the lead role! Surrogates is scheduled to be released on September 25, 2009

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight on Sept. 19

Friday, July 3, 2009
Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight against Numero Uno’s Juan Manuel Marquez, postponed from July 18 to September 19. The postponement happens when Mayweather suffered a rib injury during his training. The 12-round bout, marking the return of Mayweather after a long vacation that stretch to 21 months now, The Mayweather vs. Marquez rescheduled fight will be staged at the MGM. Mayweather are back in action once again after doctors cleared Mayweather to fight on the later date. On his return, fight fans hope will be a stepping stone to an eventual showdown with Filipino star Manny Pacquiao who is currently as the world pound-for-pound king. The former pound-for-pound king issued a statement that said "I am relieved to be cleared to fight," Mayweather said. "Trust me, Sept. 19 is a great weekend for boxing, and all of my fans -- of which there are many Mexicans too -- can certainly hold on to their hats and sombreros when I get back in to the ring." Marquez, a five-time world champion in three weight classes, figures to throw his name into the pound-for-pound debate. He's already considered "Numero Uno" in his country Mexico and vows to show Mayweather why he's so highly regarded as Numero Uno. "I am glad Mayweather has been cleared to fight and we can get down to business,'' Marquez said.”My win will be for all the people and entire country of Mexico. I am sure of victory." Mayweather made the announcement of his comeback on the same morning of the May 2 fight between Pacquiao vs. Hatton. Since then, some within the sport have criticized Mayweather for choosing Marquez rather than going directly against the fighter ranked the No. 1 pound-for-pound champ Manny Pacquiao. "I didn't want to fight a has-been when I came back. I wanted to fight one of the best in the sport, and that's what Marquez is." Said by Floyd Mayweather "Mayweather could have fought Manny Pacquiao. He just had to wait one day,'' said Freddie Roach. "I think he's scared of Pacquiao because he chose Marquez. But we're not going to wait around. I like to keep Manny busy. A busy fighter is a good fighter. I'd like to get a fight in November or December and we're not going to wait around for anybody. If (Miguel) Cotto wants to come down a few pounds, we can make it happen. If Shane Mosley wants to come down a few pounds, we can make that happen." Ticket sales reportedly had been slow for the pay-per-view event, but the Mayweather vs. Marquez fight should get a significant boost because of the new date. Boxing fans are so eagerly want to watch this Mayweather vs. Marquez match, but still we have to wait until September 19.

Webbed Planet

Thursday, July 2, 2009
Webbed PlanetHowever, the fastest-growing, most popular, and most interesting way of accessing information on the Internet is the World Wide Web. The standard framework for the Web was developed between 1989 and 1991 by Timothy Berners-Lee. Hoping to facilitate cooperative work among far-flung researchers, Berners-Lee developed the concept of a database of information linked over a network using hypertext and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), the standard codes for displaying text and images. Files on the Web are encoded in HTML to make links and to tell a browser program how to display the Web pages on a computer screen. With the exception of the fonts (the typeface of the text on the page), Web pages look about the same to everyone who uses a graphical Web browser such as Netscape, Mosaic, or Microsoft's Internet Explorer. In 1992 there were only a few hundred pages, or screens of information, to look at on the Web. By 1993 there were tens, and then hundreds, of thousands. Now there are tens of millions of Web pages around the world, and the number is growing all the time. It is impossible to know how many total Web pages there are at any given time, and in any case, the number is constantly changing. In April 1996 Lycos, a Web search service, reported indexing 37,643,037 unique Uniform Resource Locators (URLs), the “addresses” of individual Web pages. These Web addresses are recognizable as the strings of characters beginning with “http://” that are proliferating in advertisements and the media. Http stands for “Hypertext Transfer Protocol,” the standard that computers use to transmit and decode information over the Web. This growth means that in a very short time, an immense portion of the world's total information has become available on the World Wide Web. While the World Wide Web doesn't yet match the information resources of a well-stocked research library, it is growing so fast that it may soon become the world's largest storehouse of information. Right now the main limitation of the Web is the absence of an available standard for indexing Web pages; there is nothing like the Dewey Decimal system that libraries use for books and other material. Because of this, searching the Web is frequently a haphazard experience, and it is also hard to judge what is valuable and what just worthless or even wrong information is. But this will change in the future. New services for indexing and new ways for people to get judgments about the quality of information on the Web are in the works. Another limitation of the Web is bandwidth, or how much information can be sent through the wires presently used to ship data around the Internet. The rapid growth of the Web and the related explosion of new users on the Internet are straining the technology now in place. New, better methods of transmission, such as fiber-optic cables and digital switches, are needed to take advantage of the Web's capabilities.

Upon completion of this course the students should be able to perform the duties, responsibilities and acquire attitude relevant to the job titles of Computer and Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, LAN/WAN Manager, IT Manager, and Computer Technician. How to be certified as computer technicians? By taking and passing the exam for Computer Hardware Servicing in NC-II. NC-II means National Certificate – 2, this program is under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The Computer Hardware Servicing in NC-II exam is given to those students who graduate from computer technician to be qualified and be certified as computer technicians. The NC-II is also a ticket that will help other people who aspire to work abroad. Last June 30, eight graduates of ACLC Roxas took an Exam for Computer Hardware Servicing in NC-II. And all eight of them passed the two assessment method which is Observation/Demo and Oral/Interview. On the Observation/Demo, they perform PC assembly and disassembly, software installation, and network configuration.
