Manny Pacquiao will settle grudge vs Marquez

Freddie Roach is confident that Manny Pacquiao won’t be compassionate when he faces Juan Manuel Marquez for the 3rd time. The Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 will be held on November 12 at the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada. Roach believes his prized ward won’t commit the same mistake he did when he recently fought Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley.

“I don’t see him going into this fight being compassionate, letting (Marquez) off the hook the way he did with Shane and Margarito in the end," Roach said.

Roach said the “grudge factor” will motivate Pacquiao to go for a knockout against the gutsy Mexican champion.

"He has a little grudge. (Marquez) came to the Philippines wearing a T-shirt that said, ‘We got robbed’ and so forth,” said Pacquiao’s trainer.

Pacquiao and Marquez battled in 2 closely contested fights in the past. In 2004, the Filipino scored 3 first-round knockdowns versus the Mexican only to be frustrated with a controversial draw. In the 2008 rematch, Pacquiao edged Marquez with a split decision. That fight was so close that boxing experts believe that the decision could go either way.

“I’ve urged him not to be compassionate and take him out,” said Roach. “That’s the only thing that will make the controversy go away.”

Unluckily for Mayweather he is no longer young and since his first layoff he has become a flat footed fighter. Being flat footed is going to be extremely dangerous in fighting Ortiz. Trainer Freddie Roach said he’s looking forward to the first day of Manny Pacquiao’s sparring with Shawn Porter and David Rodela on Tuesday afternoon. Roach said Mosley’s strength surfaces whenever he is up against a fighter who comes at him and he knows very well not to fall into that trap. The two boxers flew in ahead of Top Rank chief honcho Bob Arum, who is slated to arrive early this morning in time for the media briefing scheduled in the afternoon. Barely a week into formal training, Pacquiao has built up his stamina and found his rhythm, much to the delight of chief trainer Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao, who took advantage of the training break to shoot scenes for his television program Show Me Da Manny yesterday, is slated to have his first sparring session next week. Gauging from Pacquiao's progress, however, it isn't far-fetched that Roach will also adjust the original schedule, which calls for four weeks of training here before moving over to his Wild Card Gym in Hollywood for another four weeks.
